SexyBookmarks v2.5.2.2 Now Ready!

I know, I know… I should’ve caught them all the first time around, but I didn’t. However, I do think we are slowly nearing the end of the massive bug invasion that seems to happen with each new release.

This patch fixes the following list of issues:

  1. Changed icon for Fwisp at request of site owner

  2. Re-added Twitter Friendly Links support after accidental removal in previous release

  3. Added an automatic check/removal function for those of you having blank spaces inserted where the email icon should have been

  4. Fixed issue when trying to dismiss more than one status message in the plugin options area

Josh:

Thanks for the great plugin!! I have it installed on five or six blogs, and had recently updated one of them to use pretty permalinks. The blog was loading dog slow, but as soon as I changed the Sexy Bookmark option to use your Beta, load times were back to normal. Just thought I'd mention it, because although I had upgraded your plugin to the latest version, until I checked 'use the new version? (BETA)' at the top, it was still loading really slow - maybe others will miss this too.

If I'm the only one who has, shame on me, it's a great addition to all the blogs I'm administering!!

We had some issue with this last release...

I've just updated the SVN with another release to fix those issues, it should show as being available within the next hour or so.

Sorry.

Hi there,

Your plug-in isn't working properly on my site. I've not changed any default settings. Any advice please? TIA!

Hi Ivy,

Sorry for the late reply...

I took a look at the URL you entered and it seems that the plugin is in fact being loaded, it's just not displaying. Where did you set it to display to? There are several options which allow you to choose to insert the menu above content, below content, or even manually insert the code yourself anywhere.

You can also choose posts, pages, index, or any combination of the three...

Where did you choose for it to be inserted?

I'm going to guess that you might have it set to display in "manual mode" which means that for the menu to show up you would have to manually insert the code. If this is not the case, please use the contact form in the menu at the top to let me know more details about what's going on.

Thanks!

Hi Josh! Thanks so much for a sexy, no pun intended, plugin. I just loaded it onto my FTP and tried to configure it. It's activated, seems to be updating, but isn't shpoing up. I'm using the newsest version of Wordpress. Any suggestions?

That shouldn't make a difference as I have a function set up to check the permalink structure before creating the link for subscribe to comments, but I will take a look into the issue deeper on my testing site.

Thanks for the heads up!

Not working how? Could you be a bit more specific as to the problem?

Also, I have an automated bug reporting system in place... Please use the appropriate contact form located in the menu at the top of the page.

Thanks!

I'd like the plugin but when i tried it, it's not working with WP 2.8.3?

I looked into the bookmarks-data.php and saw the code "permalink". I think this is the problem - my Wordpress Permalink-structure is: /%postname%/

It's me again - from germany .... sorry for disturbing.

I have an error in the element "subscribe to the comments for this post" in every page (101 errors - google webmaster tools).
I had a closer look and found out, that this element generates a second slash "/" aver the adress (before "feed"). For example: www,adress/article//feed

Maybe I'm the only one? Is there a solution?
Thanks in advance and many greetings
Oliver

I'm glad to hear that it's fixed now, because I was completely unable to recreate the issue...

seems to have fixed itself.. how weird!

thank you so much

Yes, the email link was removed in v2.5.2 due to technical complications... We are working on a new system that will allow users to email the article directly from your site via a modal window and will re-integrate the email link when we have completed this task.

You can read all the detailed changes in the changelog located here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/sexybookmarks/changelog/

Thanks for this great plug-in! I updated today, but the email-button disappeared. Any ideas?

Hmm, it's working correctly for me. Could you use the bug report form located in the menu at the top of the page and report all of the exact details for me?

Thanks!

Can you supply a fix that restores the twitter title to the title of the post instead of the title of the blog?

Sorry Josh, I didn't see the feature requests link :)

I’m still having problems. I’m in Wordpress 2.8.3 using Thesis and was having trouble with editing posts until I deactivated the plugin– I was unable to schedule a post, change a draft etc. Now it works fine. Any thoughts? And thank you!!

Sure thing, but it would make managing feature requests easier if you wouldn't mind using the appropriate submission form located in the topmost menu of links...

I know it might seem redundant, but I have a system set up which automatically files/logs all bug reports and feature requests that I receive via the contact forms.

Thanks!

Great plugin Josh. Any chance I could talk you into adding HackerNews (news.ycombinator.com) and Techmeme submission buttons too?

I’ve tried everything I can to recreate the problem in both WordPress 2.8.2 and 2.8.3 but I can’t seem to get the same results you’re speaking of…

This leads me to believe that it has to be a plugin conflict, because everytime I set it up to use TFL plugin, my links get shortened as they should.

Could you email me a bug report and in it, please include a list of all plugins you are currently using so that I may rule them out one by one?

Thanks

I did the “Reset all Short URLs” while choosing the TFL and accepting the warning and the generated URL’sd when hovering over the Twitter icon ALL point to http://www.domain.com/0.

It was working when you checked the site because I rolled the plugin back to 2.5 due to the shortening not working properly in 2.5.2.2. I’d be more than happy to do any other tests/troubleshooting to help track down if this is a config issue and the cache is not being cleared properly, or if this is a bug, or an incompatibility with other installed plugins such as TFL.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it!

Hi Josh,
This is a great plugin and yes it's really sexy :D

I've just implemented on my website.

Thanks Josh. Keep up the good work.

Sudarshan

Ah, that is odd... I will take a look, thanks!

weirdly my icons are not animating anymore.. any ideas?

Glad you like it, and thanks for the kind words!

The Twitter Friendly Links functionality is still not operating properly. If you select it, the link that generated is always "0" for every post.

i.e. www.domain.com/0

If you select a different shortening service such as tr.im, Save the settings, then change back to TFL, the other shortening service is still used to generate the links. This was not a result of caching in the browser as I opened a completely new browser (IE8) after I had made the settings changes in Firefox.

I'm coming up with the same error... there's not an attached link to the post when the Twitter share button is used. How did you resolve it?

Love this plugin. The autoupgrade is failing for me :o But, I'm here to grab a fresh copy nonetheless :D Thanks for this great plugin, Josh.

All the best,
Brian

An amazing plugin which catered to my needs of being funky and as well as simple.

Thanks for developing and sharing with us.
