Jay MeattleMajor Update: Shareaholic for Chrome 2.0 Released
by at 1pm, February 18th, 2010

We just published Shareaholic for Chrome 2.0! This is a true 2.0 release, with loads of upgrades and new features.

  • Full lightbox support! This means for services like Google Reader, Evernote and Posterous you will now see a fancy window open in the top-right corner on the same page vs. a new tab. We hope you love this major upgrade as much as we do :)

Sharing to Evernote from Shareaholic Example:
    lightboxexample_evernote

  • Once set, user preferences are now cached and stored locally in your browser. This has made the entire extension much much faster!
  • Added options page where user can choose whether to show bit.ly links or not in popup (on per default)
  • Added options page where user can choose whether to show release notes when extension updates (on per default):

    chrome_localoptionsmenu

  • If you’re not signed in, we now show services we think you use vs. some random list
  • Added icon for Google Buzz
  • Fixed notes bug from last release

Can someone please give me a short to the point description of what sharealoic is good for? I keep hearing that CHROME invades your privacy and you shouldn't use it. And features had to be turned off, etc...

For Google buzz, can we get more than just a text snippet? I'd love to be able to grab an image from the article too.

Congratulations, Jay, on the big, new release!
