Guess I got my swagger back.

We’re delighted to officially announce a new set of updates on the Sexy Bookmarks WordPress Plugin. We’ll cut through the clutter for you and make sure you know how to make the most of this newly-updated awesomeness.

(And if you aren’t using Shareaholic on your blog yet (why is that exactly?? It’s okay we still love you endless.) go grab it right now!)

1. Google Plus Added As A Service to SexyBookmarks

Previously, Google’s official +1 button was available as a separate button you could add in addition to the main social media icon line set. That’s still available, but now you can also add the Google+ button to your main button set.

So this:

Equals this:

Handsome, handsome, handsome.

2. Additional Support to Topbar Across Pages

You’ve got more support for Shareaholic’s Top Bar sharing tool. Our updates enable you to tailor your preferences on which pages, posts, categories and indexes this shows up on. You can choose which social networks are included in this top bar as well.

3. Shareaholic Translated to 5 New Languages

HUGE thanks to our translation partners for helping us expand our mission from our India and Boston offices and share our publisher tools to all corners of this great earth. We’re now translated in:

  • Belarusian (by Alexander Ovsov)
  • Polish (by Bartosz Chojnacki)
  • Catalan (by Joan Jordi Berdullas Segura)
  • Bulgarian (by Nikolay Nikolov)
  • Lithuanian (by Nata Strazda)

4. Added Share Counts for LinkedIn

We’re now showing you LinkedIn share counts, which is especially awesome for the B2B bloggers in the community. While this is a good quick-glimpse at your progress, be sure to keep an eye on your analytics to see which platforms are performing best for you.

5. Significantly Improved UX for Sharing Posts Via Email

I’m going to take the Bob Ross approach to product description here.

This happy little button:

Generates this happy little interface that enables you to email the article to yourself, a co-worker, your mom… best friend, cousin, neighbor, whoever.

Excited about the latest Shareaholic for WordPress update?! We are. Can you tell? So make sure you grab the latest version today.

I Like the look of the Shareholic plugin but have a question? Does it use any cookies when people visit a post or page where it is listed? The reason I ask is that the European Cookies Regulation comes into full affect on the 26th May 2012 and anyone visiting a site after that date who resides in Europe is officially entitled to know if the site uses cookies and what they are so they can decide if they want to opt out. I know for example that ShareThis uses a cookie and it might be a good promotion feature to be be able to say Shareholic is cookie free or that there is a cookie free option.

      Hi Brian,
Shareaholic Analytics does need to drop cookies in order to track and report back metrics to you, but you can turn it off if you’d prefer.

      Shareaholic Analytics example:

We care a lot about the privacy of End Users and want to provide everyone with a  choice regarding the use of their information. We recommend and require that your sites have a notice with language substantially similar to the following:

“We allow third-party companies, including Shareaholic, to collect certain anonymous information when you visit our website. These companies may use non-personally identifiable information during your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services likely to be of greater interest to you. These companies typically use a cookie or a third party web beacon to collect this information. Hi Brian,

In order for the Shareaholic Analytics Dashboard to work properly it does need to set cookies.  However, the choice is yours and you can choose to opt-out of this feature if you would prefer.

@shareaholic The point is that this new EU law, requires that websites *obtain consent* before cookies are placed.  So are you saying that if the Shareaholic Analytics is switched off, then no cookies are placed by Shareaholic?  Is it on by default?

    Janet,

These updates are great. Especially the Top Bar!

But… do you plan on providing a floating sidebar version like Digg Digg or Sharebar in future releases?  These have become quite popular for bloggers as it keeps the accessibility to the forefront without having the user to scroll up or down through content to find it.

I’m not able to update my plugin 4.0.6.7 using WordPress 3.3.2.  I get the message “plugin failed.” Any ideas?

Are you still getting an error message when trying to upgrade?

Hi. Is there a way that the little icons don’t get cut off in internet explorer? Where it says sharing is caring I only see 1/2 of the twitter icon, 1/2 of the facebook icon etc. Thanks.
