The Content Lifecycle: How to Create and Share Content Your Readers Will Love from Shareaholic

To help you remember The Content Lifecycle long after you’ve seen our presentation or read this blog post, here is a free takeaway sheet you can download and hang in your writing space.

For those of you not at the conference, here’s a brief run-down of what Springboard publishers are learning today. Essentially, we’re defining the content lifecycle as the process of blogging – from conceptualizing blogging ideas to writing and promoting them.

The Content Lifecycle

1. Brainstorm

This contradicts what many will tell you – we’re actually encouraging our publishers to analyze first! (Usually folks tell you to measure at the end.) First and foremost, take stock of where your content is right now and see what is working. Identify where you can improve. Use this insight to inspire new content ideas. Also get blog post ideas from:

  • Current events
  • The content you love to consume

2. Write

We’re offering some of our best copywriting tips – like what headlines actually work and some of the best ways to begin a blog post. (Isn’t it funny how those first few sentences are the toughest to write?)

3. Optimize

Based on our publisher network of 200,000 websites who reach 300 million people each month, we have learned a ton about what is sending traffic to blogs and how you can ready your site to attract more traffic. We’re offering our tips on the plugins you need to optimize for on page and off page SEO, Pinterest and social sharing.

4. Promote

You have to share to be shared – building your network on social media is an important part of driving traffic to your blog. We’re giving a few tips on how to do that for key platforms, as well as tips on navigating the nuances of each network – like leveraging Edgerank on Facebook and Twitter chats.

5. Analyze

It all comes back to where we began – measuring your progress along the way. Try these things, see what works for your audience and what doesn’t. Change up your approach accordingly!

We hope that our Springboard Conference publishers learned from the session and that our Shareaholic Publishers can feel like they were there right along with us with these tips and slides.
