Want more traffic and engagement for your content? Get all the tools you need with the latest version of Shareaholic for WordPress.

We’re back at it again, bringing you a bigger and better Shareaholic for WordPress that is sure to surprise and delight our publishers with fresh social media bookmarks and content recommendation tools.

What’s particularly exciting about this WordPress update is that this is the first time we’re really expanding our toolset beyond Sexy Bookmarks.

(These are Sexy Bookmarks…if I do say so myself.)

Many of you know and love Sexy Bookmarks, the iconic pocket-style social media buttons with a pop-up UX for your readers. Sexy Bookmarks surely live up to their name, but now we’ve got even more features that are sure to drive traffic and engagement on your content. We’re now more than just one set of social media buttons. Shareaholic will continue to develop more and more content sharing and discovery tools for publishers and you’ll be able to get them all in one place, all at one website and in one WordPress plugin. So check out these 4 must-see features, and keep your eyes peeled for more!

1. Recommendations

Increase your pageviews and time on site with our recommended content widget, which you can see demonstrated on our blog right here. The recommended content widget rests right below your social media buttons, showing your readers more of the content they want to read. Tailor your settings and select how many posts you want to recommend, and which pages, posts or categories this widget shows up on.

Get the new Recommendations here.

2. Classic Bookmarks

These sleek, clean social media buttons have a professional style that may appeal to your sophisticated taste and brand. Plus, you’ll still get Shareaholic’s free content analytics when you enable them on your site, and they compliment the Recommendations widget nicely.

Get the new Classic Bookmarks here.

3. Topbar

Increase the shares on your content by leveraging the familiar social media icons of Twitter, Facebook and Google Plus with Shareaholic’s Top Bar sharing tool. When your reader scrolls down your blog post, this additional call-to-action for sharing pops up at the top of your screen, increasing the liklihood for shares on your content. It’s obvious, yet non-obtrusive, and an effective way of reminding your reader to spread the great content they are enjoying once you’ve proven it worth to them after a few paragraphs of great value. You can see it being demonstrated right here on our blog if you’d like an example.

Top Bar really is a great addition to your Shareaholic toolset and it compliments your other widgets like Classic or Sexy Bookmarks and Recommendations quite nicely.

Get the new Top Bar here.

4. Shareaholic Analytics

Don’t forget – we’re revamping Shareaholic’s publisher analytics to be better than ever. In our fresh WordPress update, you can configure your settings to make sure you see your content’s progress with Shareaholic’s publisher analytics.

What is your favorite new feature in Shareaholic for WordPress? Have any questions for us? We’d love to help, so let us know in the comments! Can’t wait to hear what you think.

A question about the Recommendations option – how long does it take to crawl a site and begin generating related posts?

I only ask as I turned it on for a client last night and every blog post has only one recommendation, and every post has the exact same recommended post – even the post that was recommended (that post essentially has a link to itself)! That post happens to have been the most recent post when the Recommendations option was turned on.

       @gregorylam

Do you have Shareaholic Analytics turned on for the sites?

An easy way to check is whether Analytics are being reported for those sites.  ex. http://www.shareaholic.com/publishers/analytics/blog.shareaholic.com/30#traffic

It typically takes one update cycle – which happens once a day around about midnight GMT.  Feel free to ping the support line (support@shareaholic.com) with the sites and we can also take a deeper look!

@gregorylam First, THANK YOU for trying out Recommendations! Glad to hear this feedback…Recommendations should start showing up immediately and there should be variety. Could you send us a little more information (website link, screenshot) to support@shareaholic.com? Want to troubleshoot. Thanks!

I have the same problem as gregorylam – one recommendation post (not the 4 i enabled) and the same post recommendation for each post – cheers http://www.designwotcha.com

thanks for using Recommendations! Can you email a screenshot to support@shareaholic.com? We can help you out much better via email.

I love this idea, and have it installed, but I’d hoped it would only choose blog posts to recommend. Instead, I’m getting things like my contact page in the recs. I don’t see a way to tell it only to pull from blog posts; is there one?

    Thanks!

Still love the Sexy Bookmarks… but having options ROCKS – because diversity makes the world (and WWW) a much more interesting place. Ergo, you guys rock! Thanks bunches…
